Perfect for brunches, tailgating, Super Bowl and any other time you can carve out to enjoy a morning cocktail with friends, a Bloody Mary bar is an exciting addition to the party that is fun for guests, and easy for hosts. A little prep work and imagination is all it takes.
Bar Building
The best BYOB bars have a personal touch from the host’s favorite Bloody recipes. Here are some of ours, but note that you can mix and match, add or subtract to make it your own. For simplified preparation, lay out the items in the order described below.
- Printed recipes for inspiration (print outs of our top 6 are available through links below)
- Tall glasses Small dish with lemon juice (for wetting the rim of the glass)
- Stirrings Bloody Mary Rimmer
- Plenty of ice
- Stirrings Bloody Mary Mixer (note than 1 bottle makes about 5 servings)
- Spirits: vodka, tequila, white rum, and sake are all great choices
- Clam juice
- Lime juice
- Long spoons or stir sticks
- Garnishes: A leafy stalk of celery is the classic garnish for a Bloody Mary. But why stop there? Set out asparagus spears, cucumber or pickle slices, strips of bell pepper, pepperoncini, favorite herbs (we are partial to cilantro!) and carrots. Or, spear grape (or cherry) tomatoes, pearl onions, or stuffed green olives on toothpicks to float.
Bloody Mary Inspiration:
- Bloody Maria: The tequila will have you singing Ave Maria.
- Dirty Mary: Olive brine adds a savory, salty taste to the morning's Mary.
- Cuban Mary: Switch out vodka for rum and enjoy the fun.
- Bloody Caesar: For people who love the fruits of the sea, a Mary with clam juice is the best way to start the day.
- Bloody Geisha: While the name may be distasteful, we can assure you that this 'Mary, made with Sake, is quite delicious.
- Virgin Mary: A non-alcoholic version of the classic.
